The Studio
Studio Borealis is a bright and welcoming natural light studio, thoughtfully designed for photographers, videographers, and creatives. Whether you're here for a portrait session, brand shoot, or creative project, you'll find a space that is flexible, comfortable, and inspiring.
Natural Light Studio
The natural light studio spans 945 sq feet, featuring modern concrete floors and warm white walls. With a large southwest-facing overhead door, a companion window, and three additional windows on the northwest wall, the space is flooded with ever-changing light. Shooting is optimal from morning to late afternoon in summer and mid-morning to mid-afternoon in winter.
Cyclorama
The 700 sq ft Cyclorama features a brilliant white backdrop with a 30-inch curve that wraps around a corner and extends over 11 feet for a seamless backdrop effect. This area is free from ambient light, providing you the flexibility to shape your vision as you desire. Additionally, there's a neutral grey wall and four colorful background paper rolls, with seasonal changes to the color options.
The Greenroom
Our studio features a private restroom and a multi-functional Green Room. The Green Room serves as a fitting room for clients and a flexible workspace for you between sessions. Inside, discover a spacious mirror, a handy clothing rack, and thoughtful extras like an iron and lint roller for last-minute touch-ups.
BevErage + Snack Bar
Explore a variety of brewing options at our beverage + snack bar, featuring freshly ground beans and Nespresso pods. Tea enthusiasts can enjoy a selection of flavors with a ready-to-use teapot, and cold beverages are always available in the mini-fridge.
The Grip Zone
A range of basic photography grip equipment is available as part of your rental, including light stands, reflectors, umbrellas, paper backdrops and useful items like tape and clamps. You are welcome to utilize any items stored in the Grip Zone. Please note that we do not provide lighting equipment at this time.
Furniture + Decor
We have a variety of furniture available for your shoot, including chairs, stools, simple desks, and tables. The decor is minimal and versatile, and you’re welcome to use anything in the studio as part of your session. Plus, we’re a little obsessed with plants, so you’ll find a wide selection of live greenery, including some large statement plants, to incorporate into your photos.
Private Access
It’s no fun to be interrupted during a shoot, so we’re proud that Studio Borealis is a standalone building. You’ll have the entire space to yourself, and we only book one session at a time to ensure you have total privacy and can focus on your work. You’ll have easy access with a keypad or can meet the studio manager when you arrive. If we’re not on-site, we’re just a text away if you need anything. Our goal is for you to feel completely at ease and make the space your own while you’re here.
Conveniently Located
Studio Borealis is just minutes off I29 in south Fargo, near Thunder Road Fun Park. Parking is easy as we have 3-4 spots in front of the building and a large parking lot just west of the building.
