Do I need Liability Insurance?
Updated March 2025
The short answer is no, you do not need liability insurance to rent Studio Borealis. However, it is highly encouraged.
Not every photographer carries Business Liability Insurance, especially when starting out. While it is not required for all bookings, having insurance can protect you from unexpected costs and legal issues.
Why Consider Business Liability Insurance?
Accidents can happen, even in the most carefully planned shoots. Here are some scenarios to consider:
A client trips over your gear and gets injured. If they decide to sue, you would be responsible for legal fees.
A prop or piece of equipment damages the studio space. Repairs can be expensive, and without insurance, you would have to cover the cost out of pocket.
Studio Rental Pricing: With or Without Insurance
We offer two rental options:
The Pro Rental is available at the standard rate for photographers who carry Business Liability Insurance. This option is best for professionals with coverage, as it provides financial protection for both you and the studio.
The Non-Insured Rental is available at a higher rate for photographers who do not have insurance. A signed liability waiver is required. The additional cost helps cover the increased risk and potential expenses related to damage or accidents.
Getting Business Liability Insurance
If you are a photographer, we highly recommend looking into ongoing Business Liability Insurance. It is an investment in your business and credibility. It reassures clients and can protect you from unexpected financial burdens.
